Children's Health Initiative The Children’s Health Initiative ensures that all children ages 0 through 18 in San Mateo County have access to comprehensive health insurance coverage. As many as 17,000, or 10 percent, of San Mateo children are growing up without access to health care services because their families can't afford insurance.
