HPSM Medi-Cal for Adults

Adults between the ages of 21 and 65 who do not have children, and seniors 65 and older, may qualify for this type of Medi-Cal coverage if they meet income and asset requirements, and are in one of these categories:

  • Disabled or blind
  • Have refugee status
  • Eligible for CalWorks
  • Diagnosed with breast cancer
  • Live in a nursing home
  • Eligible/receive SSI benefits
  • Have AIDS/HIV
  • Have tuberculosis

What does Medi-Cal insurance cost?

Depending on monthly income, some adults may qualify for “no cost” Medi-Cal which means they can receive benefits for free. They are not required to make co-payments for services or monthly payments to keep their coverage. Adults who qualify for “share of cost” Medi-Cal are required to meet a monthly amount of payments for their coverage, in addition to $1 co-pays for some services.
