Adult Coverage

Medi-Cal for Adults and Seniors

Adults between the ages of 18 and 65 who do not have children can qualify for Medi-Cal insurance if they have a low income. In 2014, adults who earn less than $15,857 per year qualify for Medi-Cal.

Seniors 65 and older are eligible for Medicare, and they can also qualify for Medi-Cal insurance to help them pay for other expenses if they have limited assets and are in one of these need-based categories: disabled or blind, refugee status, eligible for CalWorks, diagnosed with breast cancer, living in a nursing home, eligible for or receiving SSI benefits, have tuberculosis or HIV/AIDS.

Access to Care for Everyone Program (ACE)

San Mateo County residents who are not eligible for coverage through Medicare, Medi-Cal, private insurance, or other third party payers may be eligible for the ACE program. Enrollees in the ACE program must meet established income levels.
