Accessibility
The Health Plan of San Mateo is committed to making our website accessible to people with disabilities.
This website is compliant with web-based technology and information standards for people with disabilities
as specified in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and we strive to meet or exceed the Level AA success
criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG).
If you have difficulty accessing any portion of this site or would like additional information on our Section 508
initiative, please e-mail us at [email protected] We welcome any suggestions to help us improve our site's
accessibility and usability.
There are various types of physical disabilities that impact user interaction on the web. Vision loss, hearing
loss, limited manual dexterity, and cognitive disabilities are examples, with each having different means by
which to access electronic information effectively. Our goal is to provide a good web experience for all visitors.
Consistent Design
By separating content display from styling attributes we keep the source code uncluttered,
a benefit for both webmasters and assistive technology. Our website uses simple information
architecture with consistent and predictable navigation throughout.
Skip Menu
The "Skip to" navigation exists in every page page. It allows the user to skip repetitive navigation
and headers and go directly to the page content area.
CSS
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used for content layout and graphical elements (color, font styles,
custom titles and subtitles, etc.) Using CSS for styling results in better loading speeds and consistency
in design. CSS can be replaced by the user's own styles.
Multimedia
Content is accessible without sound, color, scripts or graphics.
